Thomas J. Falvey
Commissioner
Prior to becoming a Commissioner, Mr. Falvey was the
Department of Transportation's (DOT) National Security Advisor in the Office of
Intelligence and Security. Mr. Falvey is DOT's expert on transportation
infrastructure protection and assurance; information warfare;
security-related technologies and research and development programs. He is also DOT's expert on chemical, biological, and nuclear weapons capabilities
and threats. Mr. Falvey serves as DOT's representative to the Physical
Security and Infrastructure Protection and the Weapons of Mass
Destruction subgroups of the National Security Council's Technical
Support Working Group.
Mr. Falvey spent six years on active duty in the Coast Guard and held
numerous positions as a civilian employee of the Coast Guard. He is a
Captain in the Coast Guard Reserve, having commanded four Reserve units
conducting port security, search and rescue, and law enforcement
operations.
Mr. Falvey is a graduate of the United States Coast Guard Academy and
holds a master's degree in Transportation Management from the State
University of New York.
